KU's 2-step authentication (2SA) adds a second layer of security to your online accounts. Verifying your identity using a second factor (like your phone or other mobile device) prevents anyone but you from logging in, even if they know your password.

This article shows how to setup 2SA for the first time if you choose not to install the Duo mobile app on your mobile phone.

Please be sure you have your mobile device when completing this process.

First Time Setup

  1. From a desktop or laptop, go to the enrollment page at https://app.kutztown.edu/2sa.  Log in with your KU credentials.

  2. Please have your mobile device with you when doing the next steps. Click on "Start up."  You will be prompted to select devices. Click on "Mobile phone" and click "Continue."

  3. Enter your 10 digit phone number. Check the check box to confirm your phone number and select "Continue."  Always select "Other (and cell phones)" and then select "Continue."

  4. Verify your phone number and select "Continue to Login."

  5. The final step is to register and verify your device. Select "Enter a Passcode" and click on "Text me new codes." You will receive a text with a code.  Enter the code in the box and select "Log in."

Or, select "Call Me" to verify your device by phone.

Whenever you log into a Duo-protected service, you will be contacted on the device of your choice to verify your identity.
