H5P Interactives are now available in D2L, providing instructors with an easy way to create engaging learning activities directly within their courses. H5P offers a wide variety of interactive content types, including quizzes, flashcards, interactive videos, accordions, timelines, presentations, drag-and-drop activities, and more.

This graphic from H5P.org details some of the available interactives included in Creator+ with H5P. A grid of icons with labels show accordions, collages, crosswords, drag and drop activities, and find the hotspot visual activities, among others.

Accessing H5P in D2L

H5P content can be created from the Creator+ menu within the D2L HTML Editor. Once created, H5P activities can be inserted directly into course content, allowing for inline knowledge checks.

Graded Activities

Many H5P activity types can be configured to report scores to the D2L grade book, making them suitable for knowledge checks, formative assessments, and graded learning activities.

Even when not graded, students can report difficulty with an interactive. Feedback is shared immediately with the instructor and can be elevated to KUIT for support.

H5P.com Integration and Collaboration

H5P content created through D2L is stored online using H5P.com, which is accessible through the D2L interface. Online storage provides several advantages:

  • Collaborate with other instructors when developing interactive content.
  • Reuse and update content from a central location.
  • Copy the same H5P activity into multiple courses without recreating it.
  • Maintain a consistent learning experience across course sections.

Because content is centrally managed, updates can be made more efficiently and shared across courses as needed.
