It is your responsibility to keep your personal devices protected against viruses and ensure that the latest security updates are installed. KU recommends making use of the following anti-virus solutions, both of which are built into their respective operating systems:
- Windows - KU recommends using the built-in Windows Defender.
- Mac OS X - KU recommends XProtect, which is provided by Apple on MacOS.
What if your computer becomes infected with a virus?
Occasionally our network monitoring devices will detect an infected/compromised device on the network. When this happens, the device is blocked from the Internet and the owner is notified in order to get the device cleaned/patched and back online as quickly as possible.
Students: If your computer becomes infected with a virus or malware and you are having trouble getting rid of it, you can take your computer to the ResNet Help Desk for assistance. Resnet Help Desk services are free to all students who reside on-campus. Off-campus students are also able to take computers to our help desk, but there is a fee for service.
Faculty and Staff: Check with the IT Help Center by calling 610-683-1511 or emailing helpcenter@kutztown.edu
