Apple TV
Apple TV works on both the wired and wireless networks in the residence halls.
Steps for Connecting Apple TV to the WiFi
- From the Apple TV's home screen, go to Settings.
- Select System > About > Network.
- Locate the MAC Address (listed as 'Wi-Fi Address' or 'Wireless ID')
- Once you've located the MAC Address, log into the Self-Registration Portal and add your device
- When setting up your device, select "ResNet WiFi" from the list of available wireless networks
Google Chromecast
Chromecast is designed to work on a small home network where your TV and the controlling computer/tablet/phone are connected to a single wireless router. It's not designed to work on large, enterprise wireless networks and can't be supported in the residence halls.
Although it is possible to overcome some of the technical limitations of Chromecast to allow casting on ResNet WiFi, there is no way to restrict access. Because Chromecast is designed for the home, it assumes that anyone on your WiFi network should be permitted to cast video and audio to your device. On campus, that would mean any of 4,000 other residents could hijack your Chromecast at any time, and you would have no way to prevent it.

Amazon devices will work on the WiFi in the residence halls.
Steps for Connecting Amazon Echo to the WiFi
- In the Amazon Alexa app, set up your Echo device and connect to "ResNet WiFi".
- From the Amazon Alexa app main menu, select Settings.
- Select your Echo device.
- Select About (at the bottom of the page).
- Locate "Mac Address".
- Once you've located the MAC Address, log into the Self-Registration Portal and add your device.
