It is convenient to have a printer in your residence hall room, but it's not a necessity. There are public printers available around campus.

Although your printer may support Wi-Fi printing in your home, these printers are typically designed to work on a simple wireless network with a single wireless router, and they won't work on a large, enterprise wireless network like we have on campus.  If you do bring your own printer to use in your residence hall, please:

  1. Connect it directly to your computer with a standard USB printer cable.
  2. Disable the printer's wireless signal. Wireless printers are notorious for creating Wi-Fi "noise" which will affect performance of your other devices that utilize Wi-Fi.
