Password Requirements


A strong password must contain at least 8 characters and have 3 of the 4 of the following criteria:

  • Upper case letter 
  • Lower case letter 
  • Number 
  • Special character (*&%$)

Additionally, your password must not:

  • Match one of your previous three passwords
  • Contain part of your first name, last name, username or other common names or phrases
  • Contain an easily-guessable pattern (abc, 123, etc.) 


Note that passwords cannot be reset more than once in a 24-hour period. 


Password Reset Instructions


If you have forgotten your password, navigate to passwordreset.microsoftonline.com

 

You can also access this page through Kutztown University’s Single Sign On (SSO) portal by clicking on "Can't access your account?" below the email field. 

 


When prompted, click on "Work or school account."

 


You will be taken to the password reset page.



Enter your Kutztown email (include @live.kutztown.edu) and enter the characters in the picture or words in the audio. Click Next

 

On the next page, select an authentication option from the menu on the left. 

 


Staff and Faculty that are not using the DUO authenticator will have the additional option of receiving a verification code by email. 


 

The email should appear as follows:

 

 

Enter the verification code sent to your mobile device (or via the Microsoft authenticator), then select Next.


You will be taken to a page prompting you to choose a new password.


 

Enter your new password, then click Finish.

If you see the following page, then you have successfully changed your password. You should be able to log in to your desired KU service using your new password.
