Self Service
A curated catalog of software for MacOS is available on Kutztown University computers through Self Service. It allows you to install approved software on your assigned Mac computer without needing admin credentials or IT assistance.
Self Service also provides solutions to some common issues that the IT department may suggest running while troubleshooting.
- Open Self Service
- Click on Launchpad (grid icon in your Dock) or press Cmd + Space to open Spotlight Search.
- Type Self Service and press Enter.
- Sign In (if prompted)
- Some organizations require you to sign in with your work credentials. If prompted, use your Kutztown University username and password.
- Browse or Search for Applications
- Once inside Self Service, you’ll see a list of available apps.
- Use the search bar at the top or browse through categories like “Productivity,” “Security,” or “Utilities.”
- Install the Application
- Click on the app you want to install. Press the Install button. The installation will begin automatically.
- A progress bar or status message will appear. Once complete, the app will be available in your Applications folder.
- Verify Installation
- Open Finder > Applications and confirm the app is listed. Launch the app to ensure it opens correctly.
Tips
- If the app doesn’t install, try restarting the computer then relaunching Self Service.
- Some apps may require a restart after installation.
- If you don’t see the app you need, contact the IT Help Center to request it be added.
